According the ACRL, information literacy is a set of skills needed to find, retrieve, analyze, and use information   (ACRL, 2019) . This week’s reading gave me a better understanding of these three concepts.    Information literacy is a very important skill that all students should begin learning in their K-12 years. According to the article entitled, “ Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, “  Librarians have a greater responsibility in identifying core ideas within their own knowledge domain that can extend learning for students, in creating a new cohesive curriculum for information literacy, and in collaborating more extensively with faculty.”   The use of digital/media, and technology is what create information literacy. AASL vs ISTE Standards                        This week’s readings provided me with a clear overview of both the AASL( American Association of School Librarians) and ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) standards and how beneficial both sets of standards can be in a learning environment. First, I took a look at the article entitled, “ 65 Years & Counting AASL and School Librarians.   There were a number of issues that I read about that we are still facing today as librarians.   One issue that I face often as a librarian is the challenge to a library book. There are so many books that my students would love to read. However, based on the topics that the books discuss, I am certain that administration would never approve.
